TECHNOLOGY
Our technology program consists of a portable computer lab, giving students access to laptop computers on a regular basis. All of our classrooms have SmartBoard technology, which is used on a daily basis.
The following are our curriculum standards which we use when developing our grade specific curriculum:
Creativity & InnovationThe mission of the Physical Education Curriculum is to incorporate a variety of physical experiences, which focus on improving fitness and developing skills that will help each student achieve a happy and healthy life. It also develops each student’s social, cognitive, and physical skills, which will enable them to better appreciate God’s gifts of life and movement.
Within our curriculum at each grade, students will play safely and by the rules, display good sportsmanship and Christian values, improve and refine physical skills, and understand and relate how the importance of better coordination, endurance, and good attitude contribute to a healthy lifestyle.
MUSICMusic is an avenue for developing and preserving our God given gifts and talents which teaches us to communicate across cultures and share our faith. Music is an opportunity for positive experiences to expand the mind and enhance the quality of life.
Our music program includes class time for each grade. Our curriculum includes expression, history, performance skills, and instrument skills. In addition to general music, we also offer choral music and instrumental music within our program.
Our students perform several music programs throughout the school year including a Spring Concert and Christmas Program.
ARTArt enhances the academic, intellectual, spiritual, and emotional development of the student and calls forth a creative response. Education through art, including the contribution and significance of religious art, provides a visual and aesthetic way of knowing and appreciating God’s creation.
A unique aspect of the program is that the curriculum is structured such that each grade level may be completing the same unit, however the content within is designed to meet the standards and abilities of each individual grade level. For example, in the unit “Learning About Artists and Art From Other Cultures,” a different artist and culture would be selected for each class. Additionally, the program strives to connect art with classroom studies, such that if a particular class is studying Wisconsin history, they might explore the culture and art of Native Americans, as well as the art and crafts created by immigrants.
LIBRARY - GRADES 4K-5We want students to develop skills that lead to a life-long desire for knowledge. To encourage this, we actively support each student in becoming a self-directed reader and competent user of information. We are blessed to have a parent volunteer who coordinates the library activities for our students, which includes story time for each participating grade and friendly help in exploring the library’s books. Our library is open on Monday and Tuesday with grades 4K-5 having blocked time during the day.
Each classroom also has a library of books available that are age appropriate and help to create an environment that promotes reading as a life-long skill.
BAND - GRADES 6 - 8
We partner with our local public school to offer band for our students in grades 6-8. Please contact the school office for further details about this program.
