The Journey to Become Catholic
If your Spiritual journey has made you curious about the Catholic faith, or if you have questions about the Church that you'd like answered, OCIA (formerly known as RCIA) could be a great opportunity for you. The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) is the process that explains the faith, shares your journey, and prepares those who desire to complete their sacraments to receive them.
This journey can include:
- Those who feel this is the time to begin a journey toward Baptism.
- Those baptized Christians from other faith traditions who wish to explore entering into full communion in the Catholic faith.
- Those baptized in the Catholic Church who have not received their first Holy Communion and/or Confirmation and would like to do so.
- Those who completed their sacraments, but feel that their understanding of the faith isn't as clear or as strong as they'd like.
A journey toward Christ
Each individual's journey to be received into the Church is unique. We get together to encounter the person of Jesus and discover how to develop an intimate friendship with him as our Savior. Together we explore the beauty of the sacraments and how they can bring meaning, power, and purpose to daily life. We also uncover the treasures of the Catholic faith through prayer, scripture study, and an exploration of Catholic beliefs and practices.

When do we start?
Formal sessions begin in early fall and meet weekly through the Easter season. We'll determine our time and place, taking into consideration what may work best for those attending. Our Pastorate strives to help you discover how you can respond to the Spirit's call - not just on the day you receive Baptism or Confirmation, but every day of your life.

You are invited to join our OCIA as the next step in your spiritual journey. It is open to anyone, even if you are not ready to commit to completing the sacraments at this time. No matter who you are, you're even welcome to come just to explore your faith. - Prospective Sponsors:
  Must be a Catholic who is not a parent of the one to be baptized or confirmed.
  Must have received all the sacraments of initiation (Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation.)
  Must live a life of faith that befits the role to be undertaken (e.g. if married, must be in a valid marriage according to Church law.)
  Cannot have a canonical penalty like excommunication.
  Cannot be under the age of 16.
  Must also provide a Parish Letter stating that he or she is in good standing with the Church.
